Music Videos and Music Video Planning

Green Day are a pop/rock band. They are more rock than pop, and we can see this in the video. It has the typical conventions of a rock video, like the performances with the guitar, but it also has typical conventions of a pop music video, such as close-ups of the artist. Another convention of pop music videos is the notion of looking. In this video we have screens within screens, which is kind of voyeuristic. A rock video convention is the shots of the band as a whole.
Avril Lavigne is also pop/rock genre. Her music is more pop, and her music video also has conventions of pop and rock videos. It has a lot of close-ups of the artist and there is a link between the lyrics and the visuals. They are in a school, but clearly they are at least in their 20's, and they are singing "here's to never growing up".

In both videos above, conventions from both pop and rock genre are used. They clothing and mise-en-scene make it look more like rock, but a lot of the other conventions are typically from pop music videos.
For my music video I have decided I would like to use performance and lip-syncing, as well as relating the music to the lyrics in some parts. I will also get close-ups of my artist
